Col. Val Keaveny Jr., commander of the 101st Airborne Division's 4th Brigade Combat Team "Currahees," said on Tuesday that the situation in his area of Afghanistan can best be summed up by two images.
"In the past," said Keaveny, "in a government meeting there would be five Americans and five Afghans. What it looks like today is 10 Afghans at the table and three Americans sitting back against a wall on a wooden bench.
